The next important step is to build a coaching approach into all the organiza- tion's leadership development programmes.
Most current leadership development programmes either use individual coaching or coaching approaches in syndicate group learning, action learning sets or coaching practicum groups.
Both action learning set facilitators and syndicate facilitators need to undergo training in how to coach the group and enable them to use coaching approaches in how they work with their peer colleagues.
The team leader, once they have learnt to coach their team on its internal func- tioning, can look at Discipline 4 of 'connecting with stakeholders' and discover how to bring a coaching approach to these important encounters.
